i heard american indians were putting tobacco leaves straight on open wounds and they'd heal ; both good antiseptic and helps the blood coagulate

Gnarly was the first word that came to mind. The bike seems to have held up better than you.

Hey I'm curious—to what degree has this put you off riding, if at all? The one time I've thrown myself off a bike but good—which didn't beat me up nearly as much as this—I stayed off for a while, and was overly cautious for a year or more...

not at all , spent half this morning in trackstand both for wanting to ride and bacause it kind of seemed to help pull all the smashed parts of my brain back into shape and coordonation.

nah, the bike screwed up bad, frame's beyond repair. the head bit. damn it,l it was this beautiful vintage ultralight reynolds 531 with the ornate nervex lugs

Good to hear! I suspected as much, but I just wasn't sure...
I also suspected that the above pictured bike wasn't the one in the accident, or at least, I'd be pretty surprised if it was!

this is the bike, the fork is obvioulsy screwed but the tube the fork goes through is bent just enough to make it useless. well useless for riding but since the old reynolds 531 steel has quite amazing acoustic/resonant proprieties this frame does have a future as a musical instrument of sorts.

hha I was about to say the same thing
The white stuff makes me think of the rice paper in white rabbit lollies though.
Just a warning in case hordes of little chinese girls start chasing you down the street and licking your wounds.
