most of the last five days was spent extracing a rusty seatpost from a lovely 1950 bianchi frame.
why no one makes a device for this task (basically a slight, more robust elaboration on the corkscrew
designed by the great tullio campagnolo himself
)is beyond my comprehension. it would be a pure
blessing to the entire seatpost extractor community.

12:03am: garments with remodeled sleeves optimized for cycling. throughout the 90s martin margiela & co have consistently subverted functionality often to results of stunning conceptual and formal beauty.
maybe it's time now to reverse that process.

10:20pm: tokyo's finest deterritorialized, non-captured spaces #1 azabu juuban crossing: between and beneath 3 expressways, home to the homeless, skaters, ill-fated lovers and the anual matsuri; a fantastic space thus #1

4:36am: CAFE
Photobucket

probably the biggest problem for irredeemably 20thC european me living in tokyo is the near total lack
of coffee spaces that befriend the street where one can chill and watch morning drift into day,
day into evening etc .
however here's a nice place , yonemoto cafe in tsukiji right vis-a-vis the site of my recent accident..
and speaking of the accident here's more porn people have left on my digital camera.

1:12pm:
1. apologies to art enthusiasts for this blog becomming fixedgeargallery.com. diamant east german track bike. i won't rave on about the components campa record pista hubs, record track pedals with the bottom cages cut out to shave weigth, soviet lugs etc .. made in karl marx stadt. as the scandinavian grafitti artist used to say: your country doesn't exist.

2. as a hedge precaution against the current tokyo art boom the next ginza, the edge exhibition will be an exhibition without exhibition. most likely the exhibition will take the form of a pdf and the opening a pdf launch party. more on that later

1:15am: multiple workspaces

with the decision to live 3 people in 20sqm it was clear from the start that the space with walls and plumbing and all ought to be hardware,
everything else software. more precisely all software and multiple workspaces on the one screen like in Linux - apparently the new
mac os has them too, i wouldn't know. recently with a quasi-bike workshop happening and a temporary gallery to be opened from
next week (more on this soon) things have really been pushed to the edge but everything is fine and under control,

the 17inch (windows on reality) macbook pro will use all its intel-duo-pro-muscle to serve various
types of files thereby making good use of the best part of the mac osX: the unix bottom layer
while all mundane tasks will be handled by fedora core 8 on a truly portable vaio.
goodbye apple and adobe, hello the gimp.
